Question 2012 Pilot - Transmission Fluid Change

True blue diyer type who does his own work.

Considering a new 2012 Honda Pilot EX with 3.5 motor.

Have used the search facility here and I realize I'm asking about a brand new vehicle only available at dealerships since early Sept. this year.

Any idea if the auto-tranny on the 2012 Pilot is diyer serviceable? I'm talking about fluid/filter changes.

So many of todays cars have sealed units which cannot be maintained by their owners.

Thanks for your time.

nothing from honda indicates that the 2012 Pilot tranny is any different from the 2009-2011..One drain bolt, one fill bolt, no end user accessible tranny filter. Honda DW1 ATF fluid required +/- 2.8-3 qts and a couple of crush washers. Search forum for DYI ATF fluid change.

Thanks:

With the exception of special tranny fluid(common these days) - this sounds pretty much like what I did for years on a 4 cyl - '87 Accord automatic. No filter on that one either - nor did you get a complete drain.
System held 6 qts - drained 3 - rotational type drain.

Yes it's exactly as you think Lester Lugnut. You drain it change a washer, then fill it on top (if 2012 is the same the fill plug should say "ATF" on it) then you're off.
