Default Trans Fill Hole '09 Pilot 4WD

There is a plug in the driver's side wheel well to fill the trans fluid. I have searched all the threads here and did not see this mentioned so thought I would post up. I believe this is new for the '09 model year. I used 1/2" vinyl tube from a local hardware store and a funnel to fill it. Very easy to do. Exactly 4 quarts came out when I drained it. The funnel is held to the ladder with a piece of coat hanger wire.

Very useful, thanks. I'll be doing this service in ~5000 miles.

The service manual also shows filling the tranny through the filler hole. Also states to replace the bolt gaskets, but I reckon you can still use the old one.

Bolt gaskets on mine looked to be solid aluminum so I reused them. They aren't leaking. I might change them next time.

Well, they're crush washers, probably best to replace if you can.

I got lucky and they aren't leaking one drop after a day, I'll keep an eye on them. But I agree they should be replaced being they are so cheap.

Aah, no. Don't worry about it, you could as likely as not re-use them a dozen times and get away with it, it's just best practice to replace. If you're not leaking, I'd say you're golden.

The only problem you'll run into doing that is the washer will eventually crush down very flat and get distorted. It will then be stuck on the plug because the inner diameter will be smaller than the outer diameter of the plug threads. I had one where we had to replace the oil-pan drain plug cause this washer was so smashed down. I couldn't get it off to save my life.

It's best to replace every time. If you must, re-use it only once or twice.

I have a 2010 Pilot 4WD, is the ATF drain bolt facing the front passenger side? I can't find the same drain bolt as the one pictured in the DIY ATF change sticky. Thanks.
