Default 2004 Pilot Leaking fluid

Hi,

I am new here. I have done a fair amount of maintenance on other vehicles (brakes, cat convert, exhaust, etc) , so although I am not a mechanic, I can work my way around a vehicle.

This piece is leaking fluid. Can anyone tell me what it is and if there are any instructions on how to fix it? It seems like it should be any easy fix, but I can't tell how the fluid gets into it. There are several hoses that run around it, but none go into it.

As a description it is on the passenger side and very accessible right behind the power steering fluid res. If anyone can point me to a diagram of the engine that shows the parts, I will be able to find it quickly.

I have pics, but I cannot post them from work. I will have to post them when I get home.

Thanks for any advice.

The only thing directly behind the power steeing reservoir is an engine mount. You can't tell how the fluid gets into it because no fluid goes into it... it gets filled from the factory and that's it. While it is not hard to replace, you do need the proper equipment to support the engine, so it may not be a do-it-yourself job.

Part #6 of the diagram in the link above is what you need. A $50 part.

Without pictures from you, this is my best guess.

Hi, thanks for the reply. That does look like it. *I misread your post, so I am editting my reply. *

Does a leak in the motor mount cause big problems or is it just going to vibrate like I have read about in other thread?

The other thing is that hendrick honda just replaced a motor mount recently. I will have to find which one it is.

I will still post the pic to verify.

Thanks again!

A leaking motor mount can cause excess vibrations and/or noises in certain situations. It's not a must replace immediately type of fix, but it is good to get it done to get everything back to normal working order.

The Honda dealer probably didn't replace that one, since it doesn't usually leak that fast and even an install error shouldn't cause it to leak. But if they did, you'd definitely have a case to get it fixed for free. You can also look on your invoice to see approx how much it will cost you to get an engine mount replaced.

A leaky engine mount is not a dire part to replace but something you should keep an eye on. I myself haven't gone through the trouble yet.

But when you do order a new one, simply support your engine with a jack and a wooden block. Then work the bolts on and put the new mount on. Use a torque wrench to tighten to proper spec (someone chime in with that one please).

Hi all,

Thanks again for the advice. I forgot to post the pic. Got caught up with the kids and wife last night. I really appreciate all the help.
