The manual says replace transmission and transfer fluid. What is the transfer fluid?

Transfer case. Transfers engine power to rear differential in a 4wd vehicle.

anybody like mobil 1 75w-90 for this?

I know the manual calls for 80-w90, but having a hard time finding 80w-90.

Also is a full synthetic okay in this transfer case. I have read where some transfer cases do not perform well on full synthetic as it is "too slippery," which kind of souinds like pure internet bee esss, but there may be some truth behind it.

Since this particular transfer case does not contain clutch packs or limited-slip capability of any real substance, any 80W-90 will be fine. No need for synthetic oil.

If you can't find 80W-90, you're not looking hard enough, although there is little difference between 75W-90 and 80W-90 except for cold flow dynamics.

How much truth is there to the weight of the fluid? I remember in another thread that someone used 75w-90 mobil1 in their pilot and it worked just fine. Now I'm reading about 80w-90 above. Can someone separate chime in?
