Willard did an outstanding job of writing up and illustrating the procedure for adjusting the valves on a Honda Pilot here...
DIY (J35A4) valve adjustment However, when he wrote up the procedure, he hadn't adjusted the rear valves yet. Looking at the setup, it almost looks like it would be impossible to even access the rear valves, let alone adjust them. In fact, I can't even see down between the engine and firewall to where the valves are located. The only thing I can think of is possibly reaching them from below but I haven't jacked up the car and got under it yet to see if that is possible. Has anyone adjusted the valves in the rear bank and, if so, how did you access them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

$300 is a good price to have them take the responsibility for screwing it up. Also, an experienced technician that has done it any times can do it by feel and get it just right. I have adjusted valves many times before using feeler gauges and it is very hard for me to get it just right so that I have minimal noise.

Mcclairmo: I appreciate the reply but I'm really asking about how they are accessed so I can adjust them myself. I have adjusted valves on so many cars in my 61 years that it is no problem as long as I can access them and that's what my question is about. I can adjust them by feel too but accessing them is the issue with this vehicle. I do virtually all my own work not only to save money, but because I usually do a better job and I actually enjoy it.
So my original question stands: Has anyone adjusted the rear valves on a Honda Pilot and, if so, how did you access them?
