Default Turning Off Maintenance Minder

I followed the instructions in the manual to the T and it still won't go off. It's a 2011 EX-L. How the hell do I turn this thing off?

First time this happens (you or the dealer have successfully reset it before)? or first time this light comes on?

Won't go off? What are you trying to do. Reset it?

If you can't reset it, I'd have someone read the instructions to you as you do it. You're probably missing something. I don't recall the exact sequence, but there are some lengthly holding periods involved and you have to hold the button down for several seconds.

I had my oil changed from someone other than the dealer. The instructions in the manual seemed pretty basic, just won't work. I tried following the steps 30 times, it won't reset to 100%. There's gotta be something missing from these instructions....

1. Press the SELECT button
repeatedly until the engine oil life
display or the service message is
displayed.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.

3. Press the RESET button for about
10 seconds. You will see a
‘‘MAINT RESET’’ message.

4. Select the appropriate answer,
‘‘MAINT RESET N’’ (NO) or
‘‘MAINT RESET Y’’ (YES) by
pressing the SELECT button.
‘‘ N’’ or ‘‘ Y’’ is displayed on the
outside temperature display.

5. Select the ‘‘MAINT RESET Y’’
(YES), and press and hold the
RESET button again to reset the
engine oil life to ‘‘100.’’

It's always possible something is wrong with your car, but I bet you a dollar to a donut if you have someone else do it, they'll get it to work.
