Default KYB shocks in rear and keep stock front?

My rear shocks are leaking. Can I replace them with KYB's and keep the front stock? I will be selling the car soon so I don't want to replace all 4 and the KYB rears are cheaper than OEM Honda's. Will using rear KYB and stock front cause any ride issues? If I trade the car in will it hurt resale value? It's a 2003 Pilot EX-L.

I had a leak in the RR shock. Replaced both sides with KYB GR2. The front struts remain as is. No issue with handling.

Thanks all. I just ordered the 2 rears. Hopefully they will be as easy to replace as everyone says.

Hi rlb,

If you have not done it and are going to replace the rear shocks, can you do a DIY with pictures?

Thanks

I just did it on Sun. Very, very easy to do. It took about an hour and I went really slow. It is exactly as everyone said. Jack up the car. I did one side at a time. Take off the rear wheel. Use another jack to compress the lower arm to about ride height. There are 2 bolts, one on top and one on the bottom. I used PB Blaster just in case and they came off pretty easily. "Compress the shock with your hands, rotating it down from the upper mount, allowing you to slide it off the lower stud. Take the KYB and reverse. Slide it over the lower stud (while compressed) release and allow it to glide up into the upper mounting position. Install the bolt"(Closer 2001). I torqued both the bolts to 47 ft-lbs. Next, put back on the wheels and torque to 80 ft-lbs. The ride is much better. I used these posts as my guides:

62,000 miles. The rears had been leaking for probably several thousand miles though.
