Default Many Thanks with a suggestion

The stickies and suggestions on this board made it possible for me to replace the cabin filter, VTM fluid, ATF and the oil change.
The only part that stressed me was filling the Transmission with fluid, the dip stick was very small and the fill bolt was over a foot below everything that needed to be cleared.
While I was at the dealer getting the fluids, I figured I would asked one of the service guys if he could break the fill bolt loose for me. He said "no problem". 5 minutes later I am headed home with a very easy way to refill the Transmission. I gave him a $5 for his time and he offered to tighten it for me when I was done.
The rear differential was a different story, I was under the car on my back pulling and banging and the fill bolt just would not come loose. I continue readjusting to increase leverage and BAM it breaks loose while the breaker bar nails me in the forehead and I smash my finger between the bar and the ground. The best part is, I was only 23 degrees out, so no ice needed.
Hope you enjoy my first post.

John

I enjoy hearing that I'm not the only one that smashes their fingers and hits their head fighting bolts loose. The good news is that next time it will be a breeze to do. I think the original washers corrode and make those plugs extra tight. A funnel with a hose over the dipstick tube will eliminate the need to screw around with the filler bolt.

Congrats! You just saved hundreds doing that stuff yourself and you know it's done right.

A very LOL read.

For tranny fill get one of these
Hopkins/Measu-funnel with on/off spout, handle, pouring tube and cap (10704) | Funnel | AutoZone.com

And I haven't hit my head but I scratched up my engine cover trying to get the tranny fill bolt loose. Long extension and breaker bar = scratched engine cover. But good times .

I busted a few knuckles getting the rear diff drain bolt out... no fun whatsoever.
