Default Replacing Battery Honda or other brand

I am going to need a new battery soon. Should I go with a Honda Battery ( 100 month or 3 year / 2 year pro-rated ) .

Also how do I go about replacing the battery, remove the neg terminla then positive and when rehooking its positive on battery first then negative, is that right?

ANd do I need to remove the entire bracket to get the battery out or do I only need loosen the front post?

It's a 2007 Pilot lx

thanks

remove negative first the positive. Use battey gel on terminals when reinstalliong.

Do idle learn procedure and drivers window reset as described in handbook after replacement

Costco, Samsclub or Walmart are the cheapest and best for the $$

I disagree. The battery you get at Wal Mart, even with the same brand name, is NOT the same battery that you get elsewhere. They are more cheaply made to reach a price point.

As other posters have stated, for longevity and power, you simply can't beat an Interstate. The Interstate Workaholic is hands down the best battery on the market.

Maybe so, but I have not heard of a rash of problems either.

I prefer Costco since they are cheaper then Sams for the same products, but leave WalMart on the list as not everyone has access to the club stores.

Yes, there are "better" batteries out there, but for most people the difference is irrelevant.

Agreed. The OEM battery on our 2005 Pilot needed replacing a couple months ago. One afternoon while driving around town, I found that the battery wouldn't keep a charge (had to jump every time I shut off the engine). Since it is my wife's primary vehicle, I needed to replace it ASAP... plus it being a Sunday night, I didn't exactly have alot of options.

I ended up going with an Everstart battery at Walmart for $77. ConsumerReports rates this battery highly (a close second to the Interstate) and is considered a "best buy".

I don't think I bothered to do either of those thing after replacing the battery.

Won't the idle learn procedure eventually happen while just driving around? Also, I'm guessing my wife must have reset the driver's window accidentally, because she hasn't complained about the auto up/down not working.

Tim where is this interstate raves coming from?

We have two vans at work with interstate batteries and one died within a year and another in 2 years. It could have been a batch of bad batteries but it's too coincidental.

As for the idle learn procedure, I assume that's Honda's name for the throttle body adaptation? If so that's kind of important.

After posting, I did some searching, and it appears that eventually, the ECU will adjust to the proper idle. It sounds like doing the procedure is only necessary when you want the idle to be set correctly right away.

I just picked up an Exide from BJ's, have $15 off coupon thru 12/15. Original cost was $75. It has 700CCA, which is higher than the OE Honda battery. Just bought a CPO 07 EX-L with 60K miles a few weeks ago. It was built in Sep06, battery is 4 years old. It was bulging a bit on the sides. Better safe than sorry. Battery on my previous car, an Audi, died right at the 5 year mark.
