My sister and her husband recently divorced, unfortunately. He took care of the 2007 Honda Pilot EXL 4WD. Unfortunately, he didn't keep records and he did keep the owners manual. Anyway...
She just had all new brakes installed at all 4 corners -- pads/hardware and turned rotors, along with a brake flush for $366. Seemed like a great deal with a lifetime labor warranty and 1 year on parts. What else needs to be done outside of the cabin filter, which was done, oil changes and tire rotations/balance/alignment? She has new tires on that have about 15k on them and she has the lifetime alignment from Firestone where she has most of the service performed. I am thinking the ATF and differential fluids have never been changed. She isn't mechanically inclined and I'm not close enough to do it for her. What is she looking at for those services? Anything else? Many thanks in advance! Shumax |

2007 have a Maintenance Minder system that tells you what to do and when.
Become familiar with the MM by referring to the Owners Manual and follow it's advice.

Thanks! Long term, this looks like a good resource. In the short term, though, I need some quick help as she has the time and money to handle this over the next two weekends. Thanks! |

No need to use the dealership for routine maintenance. Find a good import shop that knows Honda's. Use Honda fluids everywhere with the exception of engine oil, choose your favorite 5w 20 weight. Biggest service is around 105k.
The owners manual and the search button on this forum will help. This is frequently discussed here.

To access the owners manual online, go to the Honda website and sign into the Owners resources section.
You can register your Honda, and read any part of the owners manual you want to. Here is where you can register and login: https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda

A bit more here...she is in Charlotte, NC. Are there any independent shops in that area that any of you know of that work on Honda's, primarily? I'll be there in a few weeks and may handle it for her if I know what all needs to be done.
Thanks! |

As Rocky notes, the 2007 has a maintenance minder that indicates oil life left and any required services due. If it hasn't been reset and services are overdue, the MM will stay on and start counting negative miles. The services are indicated by the letter A or B and the numbers 1 through 6 (A1, B3, etc). You could ask your sister if this is the case. If nothing is showing due, it is likely up to date.
Secondly, if she knows which dealership her ex was taking it to, she can call the dealership and they can tell her everything that has been done and if it looks like anything was missed. Last edited by jl_ss; 10-07-2010 at 08:25 PM. |

If she can't find a shop that specializes in Hondas, any dependable shop will do. She can get the fluids at the dealer and supply them to the shop. I wouldn't doubt she'll have any troubles in Charlotte though.

Either way tell your sister to signup to this website. There are alot of knowledgible members here who can help you troubleshoot anything from a misfire to smoke shooting out of your engine.
Hell we can help you with other cars other then hondas. But basically here are the codes below for the maintenance minder. (Regardless of what code comes up tell your sister to always have the oil filter changed) A= change oil and filter B= change oil and 1 = tire rotation 2= air filter replacement 3= transmission oil replacment 4= spark plug replacement, valve adjustment and timing belt replacement 5= coolant replacement 6= VTM (4wd) differential fluid replacement |
