Z1 also NLA at my stealer, only dw1, I spoke w/a tech who said Honda officially obsoleted Z1 last week for all vehicles due to oddy had a shuddering issue and the DW can be mixed with the Z1, but Z1 cant be mixed with DW. No official SB issued. Seems strange as you are mixing the 2 when you do a drain and fill

this is so true. you don't completely drain all of the fluids unless you flushed it. so yeah, you make a lot of sense!

And another instance where the dealer has their collective heads up their collective asses.

To clarify, 2011 and newer vehicles ship from the factory with DW1. You cannot put Z1 in those vehicles. DW1 only as per the fluid specifications in the owners manual.

2010 and older vehicles shipped from the factory with Z1. You can use DW1 in those vehicles as a replacement for Z1 with no ill effects.

I have a 2009 Pilot that was just in for routine maintenance incl. the normal transmission drain and fill at 40K miles. They drained the factory Z1 and refilled with DW1. No flush required. Everything seems to be operating just fine.

So far so good on first drain and fill using DW-1. I now have around 10k miles on the new fluid and have not experienced any trouble. I have 2003 with 105k.

Z1 has been discontinued. Honda no longer makes it. Once existing stock is sold out, DW1 is your only OEM fluid option.

Honda as a company has no more Z1 in stock. The only place to find it would be a dealer who still has some in stock for some reason. You haven't been able to order if from Honda for a few months now. Knowing a parts manager, they have been using DW1 for every vehicle since it came out. Don't be scared of it, its all you got now!

I changed to DW-1 in my 2004 Pilot a couple months and about 2500 miles ago. I did a triple drain and fill to purge out most of the old Z1 fluid. I have had no issues so far. But I haven't noticed any difference in performance, smoothness, or shift patterns either.
