Default Emissions Light On

Hello all,

The emission warning light has just come on, on my 2004 Pilot EX. At first I thought it was the gas cap and replaced it, but it's been a week and still the light persists.

I'm about to take it to the dealer, but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for quick checks beforehand.

I'm at ~75K and I've read bits and pieces that if the CAT is the problem then it's covered under warranty until 80K? Apologies if I'm totally off base.

But if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Take it to an Autozone and get the code for free. Then come back and tell us the code.

Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming and thought Autozone had on-sight mechanics/services, but the one I called said none in the local area provide that service anymore. I'm in California btw.

Before we can help you diagnose the problem, we need to know what code is causing the light to come on. Without that information, it's anybody's guess what might be wrong. If AutoZone can't check the code for you, other parts shops usually do it as well. Pep Boys, Murray's, O'Reilly, Napa, etc. You can buy an inexpensive code scanner and do it yourself too.
