Default 30k service question for my 06 pilot

Hi, i'm very new to the forum (1st post) and have a few questions for my 06 pilot 4wd.

I'm getting ready to do my 30k service, i own and races Subaru, mostly WRXes and Legacy B so i can turn a wrench. Here is the list of items that i need to replace, can someone please double check?
1. replace engine oil/filter
2. replace cabin filter
3. replace engine filter
4. replace automatic tranny fluid
Question: i found a post on replacing the fluid on a 05, is this the same for the 06? What's the volume 4qt? and where do you put the fluid back in? tranny dip stick?
5. replace rear diff fluid. Question: what should i do with the front diff? use the same VTM4 fluid? if so how much? (or am i completely off where the front diff, transfer case and tranny is all one transaxel?).

I know and understand how to inspect the items so i'm good there.

any input would be awesome, thanks again!

Your 06 should have a Maintenance Minder which is supposed to guide you and let you know when it's time to do a service and which service needs to be done. The consensus around here is to follow the MM instead of watching the odometer. Here are some answers to your questions.

1. Easy
2. Easy, search for other posts if you need help.
3. Easy
4. Not necessary until it pops up on the MM, usually around 45k. Yes, your 06 is the same as an 05. You can fill through the dipstick or the fill plug on top of the tranny. See below.

open, unscrewed

5. You don't need to worry about the front diff at 30k. It's done when sub item 3 comes up on the MM. When you do, just follow this guide by carguy07.

That's the transfer case. Takes about 1/2 quart of gear oil. This is on an MDX but it's the same thing: http://www.mdxers.org/forums/showthr...threadid=23082

Get a pump like this (Advance Auto has them) and it's a 20 minute job.

Mobil 1 75W-90 works great. 20mm washers for both drain and fill.

Hope that helps! Now that the site is back to normal, you should be able to search for just about any info you need. That's how I came up with the quote above.

Follow the MM, the Honda engineers put it there for a reason.

1. 5W-20 in whatever flavor oil and filter you choose

2. Cabin filter replacement is pretty straightforward following the posts here.

3. I assume you're talking about air filter. This also is a very simple job.

4. Trans fluid may not be necessary at 30k, but if you're going to do it, use the Honda Z-1 fluid. Check the level before you drain it. Replace with new fluid in the same amount you drained if the level was good when you started, otherwise adjust up or down accordingly. Do not overfill. There is a fill bolt on top of the trans housing near the firewall, down low. Recommend picking up the crush washers for the trans drain plug and fill bolt when you get the new fluid.

5. Rear diff. needs VTM-4 fluid from Honda. Get new crush washers for those also. Takes about 3 qts.

Transfer case (sometimes called front diff.) on an 06 takes 80W-90 or 75W-90 GL-4 or GL-5 fluid, whatever your manual specifies. It takes about 0.5 - 0.75 quart. Not much fluid really. Follow the directions provided above.

Might want to consider rotating the tires, checking for loose suspension parts while you've got the wheels off, check the brake pads, and consider replacing the brake fluid if it's never been done. DO NOT get any brake fluid on your car's paint. But if you have a despised neighbor, feel free to get it on her/his car.
