Default Transfer Assembly no one really talks about changing oil on this. What is this?

I have a 2010 Pilot. Was reading the manual and the forums here. Lots of talk about the differential, tranny, oil changes. No one really talks about the assembly. What and where exactly is this? Thanks

Owners manual says: should be drained/refilled when service is indicated types of oil hypoid gear oil GL4,or GL5with viscosity of SAE 90 or 80W-90

You have the transfer case if you have 4wd. Do you have 4wd? If not, then don't worry about it.

Assuming you have a 4WD, it's supposed to have a fluid change coincident with the transmission fluid changes (the MM will tell you when) but with 80W-90 gear oil. It's located in the middle of the car near the front and appears easy to do, although you do have the usual problem of how to pour fluid into a horizontal hole without access from the top.

I'm waiting for the MM to trip code "3" on my 2006 with about 42K miles when I'll do this service and the transmission fluid change. I suspect it will in the next oil change interval or two.

Is this different from the differential fluid? If so, I've never heard of anyone changing out transfer case fluid before.

I do have the 4WD and I was reading the owners manual and it said do use the above fluids for the transfer case. I too never heard heard of the transfer case and wasn't sure where it was at nor if we had to ever change the oil or at what interval. Did a search and couldn't find any info on it. Anyone change it?
