Default Timing Belt and Water pump Replacement

It's getting to be time to do the belt and pump replacement. I have received estimates as high as $1400.00 for this service. Is this normal or a money grab? Can independent garages be trusted with this service? I'm in Eastern Iowa and don't have a ton of choices.

I would say $800-$900 would be a decent price, but for $1400, you'd better ask your mechanic for a reach around too if he's charging that much!

The one I mentioned is in North Oxford (near Worcester). This is the place I bring my Pilot to.

Not being in MA, does anyone have input on Midwest locations?

Default timing belt

Any recommendations on when the timing belt should be replaced.

I have a 2005 pilot with 50,000 miles and was in recently for some service and the tech recommended I have it done at 60,000 miles.

I can`t seem to find the honda recommended milage for this work.

Thanks,

Hello and thanks for the information.

I thought that 60,000 miles was a bit early but the tech insisted the age of the vehicle was what was important.

His comment didn`t seem to make a lot of sense.

Thanks
