My 05 Pilot needs new shocks. I know I cannot do the front, but I think it is not difficult to change the rear shocks. Could you please do a DIY about changing the rear shocks? Thanks in advance.

Really nice to see you posting on here again.

A timing belt DIY would be great. I know there are a few short writeups scattered here and there on the site but an official timing belt thread with pictures would be great.

Some of the more simple stuff would also be nice, like changing coolant or changing serpentine belts, as someone like you would have some tips that may make the job easier.

Videos are a good idea, but I think clear pictures are just as effective.

Good point. Nothing against the newish Pilot owners ( lots have traded their 1st generation Pilots in on 09's & 10's ), but quite a few of piloteers.org members are beginning to approach the 105k mark.

A solid write-up on the timing belt replacement is a great idea.

Thanks in advance if this is something you can do for us.

Another 30K kms (19K miles) I'll be doing it for the second time
Maybe I'll tackle it myself second time around.

Default Too Much Oil

Quick question regarding possible damage to 4-cyl. Honda engine:
(Note: I also have an '09 Pilot and apologize in advance for posting this question about my Accord).

I recently discovered that my '00 Accord (with 140K miles) had been overfilled with oil by two quarts and driven about 200 miles in that condition.

It's been drained down to the correct level, but I'm wondering what sort of damage could have been done to the oil seals, etc? Is there anything to do at tnis point, other than wait and see what happens next? I understand the excess oil could have leaked - and damaged - the timing belt, which was changed two years ago.

Fortunately, the car still runs OK, but I wonder for how long.

If the oil spit out, it will do no more damage than any other case of spilled oil. (Belts and such. I would not be overly concerned of the timing belt since it is toothed.

If the engine ran normally other then spitting oil, then there is nothing to worry about.

Default Too Much Oil Follow Up

No, it didn't spill out, I had to drain the extra two quarts out of the engine, but not until the car had been driven about 200 miles.

You'll be fine, just keep a better eye on your oil level.

Think of it this way, it's better to have more then less.

you will be fine. the honda engine is a lot better design then the old chevy V8's with brass freeze plugs. correct the level and drive away. too much oil will affect performance tho. too much oil pressure. but honda engines are engineered so well that the bearings never wear out. dont worry about it.

Any owners in the charlotte area? i will do work on their vehicle at a major discounted price to help in the DIY. if I did it at work i might get into trouble plus it will be hard to show you how to do it if im using a lift and air tools.

You need to throw your tools in a truck and go on tour. I had a buddy with a plane that used to do supercharger installs and would fly to you, install and fly home.

EGR port clean, valve adjustment, and engine mounts are great ideas. I did a valve adjustment on a '91 prelude and thought it was pretty straight forward.
