Default When exactly does the transmission fluid need to be changed?

I have 2006 2WD EX-L. The nearest dealer to me has told me that I need to have my rear and front differential fluid changed to the tune of $189. Since I don't have a 4WD Pilot, I don't have a rear differential, right? I currently have 55k on the odometer and have not had the ATF fluid changed, so I think that needs to be done, but I am pretty leery of anything my dealer says at this point and want to be sure they aren't screwing with me because I am female I know a decent amount about cars but transmissions and differentials are out of my league.

Can someone please tell me what the recommended mileage for ATF fluid changes are? I honestly do not recall if I have seen a code 3 on the maintenance minder.

Thanks,
Lesa

For 2WD you do not have to change differential fluid. Its a front wheel drive.

For the Automatic transmission, based on 2005 maintenance schedule, the normal schedule is to change ATF is at 45,000 miles, then every 30,000 (30K) thereafter. If you happen to need to follow the severe maintenance schedule (e.g., high temps, very low temps, lots of towing, etc), the ATF change schedule is every 30K miles.

Your 2006 should be essentially the same for expecting when a code comes up on the maintenance minder. In fact, it should tell you reagrdless of "normal" or "severe". Regardless, if it has not been done yet, sounds like you are due. ATF replacement by a dealer should run about $90 plus or minus.

Thank you. I just went through all my records and I did a 30K maintenance, which looks like it included an ATF fluid change, so I think I am all set until that #3 comes on again.

Thanks again for the reply.
