Have an 05 with 115,000 miles. Put Bridgestone Alenzas on at about 55,000 I think (replacing Badyear Lack of Integrities). Would put another set on but finances have gotten real tight so am going with Firestone Destination LEs.
Firestone has them on sale 25% off until the end of January ($503 set of 4) BUT the dealer in Raleigh is selling them for $1 over his cost at $79 for a out the door of $441 for a set of 4. (I have lifetime free alignment so that isn't figured in.) Front shocks are $615 for both out the door. Firestone is $393 but the Raleigh FS is $345. rear shocks are $304 for both out the door. Firestone is $299 but the Raleigh FS is $209. Bottom line Honda Dealer $1439. Firestone $1195 Firestone Raleigh $995. Need to add road hazzard on the tires, forgot to ask. Oh yeah, Honda dealer says battery is weak. Now to go out back and fertilize my money tree.

Sporty,
I am on my 2nd set of F'Stone Destination LEs; very good tire for the weather mix we get in NJ. I would run them 50 to 60K, no problem. Battery wise, Wal-Mart is hard to beat.... I am at 112K and am also unsure about shocks/struts at this time. PS: More photos of the Beagles are needed! Quote:

Really costco batteries are good? I can't remember what brand it is but my costco might have had ones with a red label on them.
Wait kirkland batteries? As for shocks why not just do them yourself? Here is just an example but it's about $39 per rear shock. http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base Here is what I googled quickly regarding how to change the rear shocks. Here are directions with torque specs: 1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section. 2. Support the vehicle under the lower control arm. 3. Remove the Rear wheel 4. Remove the Upper shock absorber flange bolt 5. Remover Lower shock absorber nut 6. Remove Shock absorber To install: 1. Install or connect the following: * Shock absorber and Tighten the fasteners to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm). * Rear wheel Read more: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/...#ixzz0dOFk2zkd |

Thanks to all about Costco but I am not a member. The nearest one is 60 miles away in Raleigh. I do live near a Sam's. Funny nobody ever mentions them.
As to doing it myself, I would on the rear but I have to do the front also. That plus a torn cartilage in my right knee and some other temporary health issues lead me to let somebody else do it. Thanks though. I will try to get some more pictures of those Reincarnated Houdini's , I mean beagles posted.

Hey Sporty, long time no write!
Glad to see another Pilot on Alenzas. Those LE Firestones have such a similar tread pattern to the Alenzas that I bet you'll be happy with them. I've got 40k on my Alenzas (they are getting noisy). I'm thinking one more years worth of mileage.

The majority of car batteries are created by 3 manufacturers - Delphi, Exide and Johnson Controls Industries.
Delphi makes some EverStart models sold in Walmart and ACDelco. Johnson Control Industries makes Duralast seen in Autozone stores, Diehard - sold in Sears, Kirkland - the Costco brand, Motorcraft - which Ford sells, some of the EverStarts, and Interstate. Exide makes Exide batteries, Champion, Napa and even a % of the EverStart batteries. A car battery is one of the few things that you will most likely have to replace if you own a car more than about 3 years. Most other parts and accessories will last longer, but the battery in a car needs replacing every 3 years or so. Get the correct or better 'cold cranking' power ... if not that urgent, wait for sales and search discount coupon online. I heard good words about Interstate but I didn't try it. Also Optima but people said overated and overpriced.

Yeah, been away a while. Working at a retail job in Raleigh 45 miles away after I quit teaching in June 08. Fellow teacher I used to know works in the same chain. They moved to Raleigh though. Now in the ranks of "under-employed" I am not going to do nothing if I can help it.
Whoop, whoop, thread drift alert!! Back to the topic - A quick report on the Destinations LEs. They were quieter but then most new tires are. Mine had cupped enough to be really noisy. The Destinations ride fine. The test came this weekend. Raleigh got 6 inches of snow and sleet. Rocky Mount got 3.5 inches. Drove home from work Friday night after the snow had been falling for several hours. Wrecks along the road. No problem with Pilot and Destinations (held speed down also - No AWD or tire can overcome stupidity or carelessness.) Saturday I went out at about 10:30 before the snow changed to sleet and drove around a little. got on several hills and cautiously tried to spin the tires. AVS came on and everything was fine. Turned it off and tired again, a little swerve but went up the hill after a brief moment. Put it in 2nd and engaged the 4WD - NO Problem whatsoever!! Haven't been out since other than to turn the Pilot around to let the sun melt the ice on the front Sunday. Roads are glaze ice now but it will finally get up to 43 today. May get to go to work.
