Default Shocks/struts

o4 Pilot EX-L, 62,000 miles.
Considering new shocks/struts as any roughness on road...i.e...potholes, general depressions..etc. seem to hit "hard" and noisy. Also I've heard that factory shocks/struts should be replaced after 50,000 miles.(you know what "they" say)

So, IF I do replace...KYB GR-2 or MONROE Sensa-Tracs?(or something different?)
Also, do I need the replacement mounting kit and boot kit? Mounting kit is $50 each and boot kit $12 more on the KYB site

What are your thoughts?
Thanks
MG

I don't think the OEM rear shocks hold up very well. I noticed that if I hit a bump in the road while going around a curve that I had a real unstable feel and almost out of control. My wife drove my 04 Pilot to work and said it was scary when she hit a series of potholes in the road. I looked at the rear shocks and the right had some oil on it. When I removed it and worked it in and out there was no resistance. I went back with the MONROE Sensa-Tracs, problem solved. Do the rear first I don't think you need to worry about the front. I now have a smooth and stable ride. I also installed a pair of Air Lift 1000 on the rear to help offset the negitave camber and rear tire wear when loaded with people and luggage.

Check your motor mounts too if you hear clunking. I had to have the front one replaced at 45K miles after hearing some clunking. I was gone for a bit, but I think the other 2 are gone now too.

I just had the front struts and the ear shocks replaced. Firestone dealer used MONROE Sensa-Tracs. Ride is great.

I had 115,000 on my 05 and the Honda dealer said they needed replacing. $615 at local Honda dealer, $345 at Firestone in Raleigh (cheaper than Rocky Mount Firestone). Rear shocks were $304 at Honda, $209 at Raleigh Firestone.

Got hit with the "They say" also. Not sure they really needed it but the tires had developed cupping and I trust the recommendation of the Honda dealer (just don't like his prices).

Have heard motor mounts can be a weak spot on the Pilot based on what I have read here over the years.
