Default Rear Rotor Change Noise Issue

Hello,
I apologize if something like this has been covered, but I did not find it when searching the forums.

I recently changed out the rear rotors and pads on my 2004. Everything seemed to go fine.

A few days later I found that while turning left and braking, a loud squeal comes from the right rear wheel. To my wife it sounds like the parking brake is on when trying to drive (it is not).

The actual braking seems fine and I don't have any problems stopping.

Since then, the problem is getting worse, noticed it tonight while turning right in the left rear as well and occasionally it will happen when just coming to a stop while going straight.

Could this be a parking brake adjustment issue? I have noticed that parking brake does not seem to engage as well now as it did prior. If so, how do I adjust them.

Thanks for any assistance.

John

What pads did you use? OEM or aftermarket? If OEM, did you apply the moly grease to the back of the pad (non-friction side) and on both sides of the shims? Some aftermarket pads already come with shims installed so grease may not be required.

I used after market, Advanced Auto Gold.

The pads we took off did not have shims so we did not use them when we put them back on and we did not grease anything except the caliper slides.

The stock pads do have shims. If the Advanced pads did not come with shims then that's most likely the cause of the noise. Here's the Honda part no. for the shims:

For reference, here's a part diagram. Group #7 highlights the pads with the inner and outer shims.
