Default AC Problem

Hey guys,

I have tried seraching the knowledge base and it keeps coming up with nothing found...I dont think my question has never been asked before...

I have a 06 Pilot 4wd Navi. Just over the weekend the AC died. I just assumed it needed to be charged. Bought the kit with the gauge...hooked it up and right away it was in the red - meaning mechanical failure.

I have checked all the fuses and nothing. What is happening is that the AC will not "kick" on. When I turn on the AC, the fans go on but the AC unit wont come on. Anyone can help???

You didn't say what pressure "red" was indicating. Zero? 100psi?

Check the compressor clutch relay (and the compressor clutch fuse) in the under-hood fuse box. Relay should click when the AC is turned on/off.

It was right at 100 PSI. I checked all the fuses, but the clutch relay fuse (I assume this was it, says "clutch") is just a block...not sure how to check that. Not like the regular fuses were I can see if it was tripped.

The "block" is the relay....does it click when the AC is turned on/off?

Doing an electrical test on the relay or bypassing the relay is a bit more involved, and unless you are an accomplished DIY or better, best not try that.

If the gauge reads 100 psi at rest then the system is at least charged enough to engage the compressor, assuming the pressure switch is good and ECU is inclined to activate the relay and the relay described above is working and the fuse is good, and the compressor clutch coil is good.
