Default Brake shim noise

Excellent write up and directions! I just completed a rear brake replacement which included Honda pads and Wagner rotors. The Honda pads come with the shims and noise reduction material. I applied this to the shims, but appear to have some brake noise while driving. It almost sounds like a low chirping every now and then. Is this the expected noise if the shims were not greased properly? I applied all the material to the shims on all sides except where directly touching the pad and caliper. Any suggestions?
