Just did a DIY oil change on my 2004 Pilot. However, the washer that came with the Honda oil filter # 15400-PLM-A01 is smaller than what is currently on the oil filter shaft. Called up the dealer and was told that the washer is the standard size for the oil filter i purchased. Should I still replace it?
Thanks. |

Is the washer aluminum? It is to replace the one that should be on the oil pan drain bolt. There should be no metal washer for the oil filter.
If you reused the drain bolt washer and there is no leak, just change it next time. Here is a pic of filters and drain bolt washers. But not the same part number as your filter. http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Mercha...oduct_Code=AOF |

Correct if you bought an aluminum washer (feels like you can bend it with your fingers) then that is the crush washer for you oil pan drain plug.
If for somehow you used it on your oil filter itself then I suggest you run outside right now and take the filter off. There should only be a rubber gasket on the oil filter. |
