The wife complained of intermittent squealing from the left rear this week. Pulled the rear wheels, and found the pads were at about 3/32" and the wear tang had begun to rub on driver side. The pass side tang was within a hair of touching.
Once I saw the old (and new pads) I get why they wear quicker than cars I've had in the past; itsy bitsy pads. Add me to "surprised" at the rate of rear pad wear. The rotors, slide pins and calipers were in great shape, though.

Weird posting the first reply to your own thread....
Just finished reading of a T&C minivan needing new front pads after 12,000 miles. I'll retract my criticism of getting *only* 78k out of Pilot rear pads. I suppose that's fair. I just got spoiled with past Toyotas and Hondas getting well past 100k on original rear pads. Still amused by the teeny parts...I've seen scooters with these pads, I think...

I changed both front and rear at 60k miles. Your 78k for rear is not bad at all. The rear seams wear a bit faster than front on this car. There is a lot of that discussion on this board about that.

I've also read about many Accord owners who've had to replace their rear pads before the fronts.

As I posted in my other thread, I had both the fronts a rears changed out at 45K miles. I find it unbelievable how tiny those rear brake pads are for such a heavy vehicle. I wonder if there are any larger aftermarket calipers for the rear? I bet that would make the Pilot stop on a dime!
