Need some advice. I'm experiencing the same issues and runaround with my Pilot and dealership.
Last year, our 2006 Pilot lost all power and the engine malfunction light came on. It had to be towed to the Honda dealership. They had never seen this issue before they said. So they spoke with Honda tech support. To help them along, we researched the issue, printed and provided all the information we could find on the problem. So they concluded that our Pilot was misfiring and they replaced the rocker arms and spark plugs. We were not confident in this solution and expressed our desire for them to dig deeper and use owner's experience as a guide since this issue was so new to them. They held firm to their fix. Reluctantly, we took the Pilot back. This pass week the same engine malfunction light has come on and the codes said that it was misfiring (codes P0300-P0306) again. They called tech support and all they did was give it a valve adjustment. Not the fuel injectors and not the EGR valve. I was very unhappy about this repeat issue and concerned that our family vehicle which we purchased based on the safety and reliability factor, does offer us the same piece of mind anymore. The Honda service advisor, Bob, did little to help, therefore we called America Honda and they didn't help either. They felt that the valve adjustment was all it needed. I am concerned that my wife and young boy may breakdown on the Los Angeles 405 freeway or along the desert. What should I do next? Can anyone confirm a viable solution to this issue? Was the valve adjustment the right thing to have fixed? Thanks

If P0300 was the code first time around, then it seems that the problem has not been solved. Was the last digit the same? P0302 for example says its cylinder #2. P0300 is a random multi cylinder misfire.
Any other codes? A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plugs or wires Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector(s) Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s) Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages Faulty camshaft position sensor Defective computer Vacuum line fault I would also check the battery and alternator condition. Is this happening after a consistent set of circumstances? Eg you fill up and drive 100/200 miles or randomly?

We requested a copy of the codes...This is what the print out says from the last time we had it serviced.
Confirmed DTCs Permanent P0302 MISFIRE No. 2 CYLINDER P0303 MISFIRE No. 3 CYLINDER P0304 MISFIRE No. 4 CYLINDER P0305 MISFIRE No. 5 CYLINDER P0306 MISFIRE No. 6 CYLINDER P0300 RANDOM MISFIRE P0301 MISFIRE No. 1 CYLINDER Pending DTC's (Temporary) P0302 MISFIRE No. 2 CYLINDER P0304 MISFIRE No. 4 CYLINDER P0305 MISFIRE No. 5 CYLINDER P0300 RANDOM MISFIRE All they did to "fix' the issue was a valve adjustment. Also they were considering replacing the rocker arms again??? Glad they did not go in circles with that. My guess is Honda either doesn't want to invest the money into a true fix to the problem or they simply are clueless to how to fix it. I told the American Honda case manager that I have a feeling they are simply patching the issue until the 60,000 power-train warrantee runs out. They had no real response to that. Now I'm hearing that a valve adjustment is not a solution to this problem and that other owners have all gotten the run-around on this issue. I would like to know if they have fixed this (really fixed) this issue for anyone? What is the exact fix?

We did not get the codes on the first repair but we were told that the cylinders were misfiring. They have never seen this issue before and were unsure of how to resolve it. When they contacted Honda tech support, they were advised to replace the rocker arms?
I am tolerant of service technicians who are clueless to specific problems as long as they admit to it and want to pursue a solution. But I am short on patience when the technicians are naive, arrogant, unprofessional and unwilling to work with the owner to resolve the issue. Since we are dealing with unprofessionalism and ignorance... we are forced to pursue resolution and assistance elsewhere cause we are simply not getting the help we purchased into with Honda.
