Default Battery rating for 2003 HondaPilot

Greetings to you lovely HP friends. I'm the second owner of 2003 Model HP with 57800miles. The battery of my car have failed me 2xtimes this week. But, unfortunately there is no any specific Amperage rating written on the body of this battery.

Pls advice me for the max and min amperage rating of the battery which will be suitable for me to buy and use for this my lovely pilot.

Although, the battery in the car at the moment is the one i have been using since July 2008.

Pls advice.

Awaiting your response pls.

'Fred

The battery you have is probably under warranty and I'd go back for a replacement promptly. I assume you've not done silly things like leaving interior lights on.

Thats never happened to me.....

Freddy, did you replace your tie rod yet? If so, reply on that thread how it went.

I think the owners manual lists the battery group # and CCA rating. If not, WalMart, InterState, NAPA and other can quickly tell you what's required.

Check that info to the batt currently installed to make sure it was the right capacity to begin with before getting a warranty swap.

Hmm ... my '03 manual specifies the battery as "12 V 65 AH/20 HR". But usually, when I go battery shopping, the first step is to determine the form factor (case size, side/top terminals, etc.). Then, I just get the one with the highest CCA rating, which also corresponds to the longest warranty. Brand doesn't much matter.

Gents,
Thank you very much for your quick response.

Belundy,
The battery i have presently doesn't have any things written on the body which is related to rating at all. Also, i've not change my inner tie rod because i travelled. As soon as i work on that i will definately give a feed back to the entire HP friends.

Krygny,
I will surely check for all those things you mensioned before buying the battery. So far the rating is specified in our manual i will buy according to the specification in '03 HP manual.

Once again i thank you guys.

Rgds,
'Fred.

Appropriate replacement battery is a group size 24F with a minimum CCA rating on the order of 550.

Some examples are Wal-Mart MAXX-24FN or MAXX-24FS, Advance Auto 24F5 or 24F6 and AutoZone 24F-DL or 24F-DLG.

You''re over-thinking this: just go into the auto parts store and say you want a battery for a 2003 Pilot. They'll detail your choices.

I'd get one at Costco.

Whizmo basically echos my sentiment; I look at the old battery--a cell photo-- or manual to verify group#, since that governs physical dimensions and terminal locations. I've had counter staff and those electronics kioks be incorrect a few times. Plus....

I bought a used vehicle once that *obviously* had the WRONG replacement battery in it. It was the incorrect group and 20% lower CCA. The battery tray clamps didn't fit it well and the battery was rattling around, which is probably what bagged it.

Costco, Sams and Walmart are ubiquitous, usually have fresh batteries and good prices.

Hey, we like to elevate everything to an astonishing level of stupid. Just check out some of the threads on nitrogen in tires.
