Default Oil Drain Bolt

Went to change my own oil this AM and can't get the oil drain bolt off - You know how those oil change guys like to over torque everything

If I am under the car facing the bolt: rightie = tightie and Leftie - loosey

How do I get the bolt off without stripping it?

Yeah, tap the handle of the socket with a mallet and that will work just fine, if you dont have a breaker bar.

make sure you use a 6 point socket and a long breaker/cheater bar. Give it a couple whacks with your hand or a hammer and it will come right off. Make sure you do not over torque it. One of the reasons I hate going to the quick oil changes. Save some time but then it take 2 hours to recover from their idiocy.

regards

Nick

Now that it's off, look at a Fumoto valve to replace it. Get the one with a nipple and buy a 3/8 inch piece of hose. Oil changes will be quicker and easier than ever.

Unhappy

Hey macphanatic what's a Fumoto valve? and where can I get one? But more importantly, I'm in a hell of a dilema. I was doing a typical oil changed and notice shavings from the oil pan grove come out with the drain plug. My fear is now I have to change the oil pan (which according to the service manual looks like I have to go through hell to get to it) Please tell me there's a easier way to solve this problem with the stripped groves or a simplier way to remove the oil pan without having to drain the tranny, disconnect tie rods, front and rear mount, etc. etc. ANYONE! Please help.

[s]Is the adapter needed for the fumoto valve?[/s]

Nevermind, I just saw this:

('99-on Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline require an adapter,ADL-106 to install the valve.)
