Talking oil

You kids are serious about your oil. Dedicated at the most I honestly did not expect that type of a reply, but I enjoyed it to the fullest.

I think you hit the new thread button rather than the reply button, you started a new thread.

I just did the first oil change on my PL. To fill it, I only used about 4.7qt of oil and the oil level is in between the mark. I have never owned a 6 cylinder vehicle before, only 4 engine. I've always thought that the 6 cylinder engine the oil capacity would be about 6qt since the the 4 engine needs about 4qt. Back to owner manual and it says 4.5 US qt (page 247). I think I did it right but I want to confirm it. Thanks

You'll never go wrong following the owner's manual.

Engine size has little to do with sump capacity. My 2.8l V6 in my VW takes 6.5 qts. My 3.5l Honda takes 4.5, same as a 1.8L VW Turbo.

And some Porsche models have 12-qt sumps.

No they don't.

They are dry sumped, with 12 Quart oil reserve tanks.
