Default Maintenance Minder -- Records

Has anyone thought about asking the Honda dealer to record the MM code and % oil life remaining on the printed invoice/receipt, when the dealer does maintenance?

Otherwise, in the future, how do you demonstrate that you followed recommended maintenance? The long oil changes might look questionable if you go to sell the car.

Putting the MM code and % remaining on the receipt at least shows that you were following the maintenance schedule.

If you have a dealer do the maintenance, you'll have official Honda receipts with the mileage and dates. In the event of a warranty claim, Honda is NOT going to require you further provide assurance that the MM was followed.

Having said this, I'm sure the dealer would be happy to do this for you, provided you get the info past the service writer's filter into the hands of the person actually doing the work.

Looking at the invoice I got from my dealer for the recent service, there is a $0.52 "service history adm." So they must have kept the record.

I own many other brands of cars before, this is the first time I've ever seen dealer charging for keeping service history, even though it is just 52 cents.

I think they are charging you for the cup of coffee the tech drank, while he waited for your oil to drain.
