Default Another Engne Light Question

Ours came on in our 2003 yesterday. Had the code pulled this morning from AutoZone. Below are the results:

Code P1456

Definition - EVAP emission control system leak detected (fuel tank system)

Probable Causes

1.Loose Fuel Cap (Hope this is it)
2.Vapor canister saturated
3.Failed vent solenoid
4.Failed purge solenoid

I removed the fuel cap and put it back on. My question is, will the light turn itself off if that was the issue and its fixed? Anyone else have the problem end up being one of the other 3 possible causes?

Give it about a week of driving to full warm up every day before it goes away on its own. If it doesn't, you could have the EVAP system tested.

Was driving to work when I noticed the engine check light lit up. Got 110,000 miles on my Pilot; and this is the first time the engine check light has lit up. Called my nephew, who's a mechanic. He checked it with a code reader and it came up P1456. Said it was probably the gas cap and to make sure I tightened it everytime I fill up making sure it clicked three times. Anyway, he reset the engine check light; and it has not lit up for over a week. I'm so thankful that I have a mechanic in the family!

I had the same error come up LAST YEAR. I reset it and it came back a week later.

I had to go for an emissions test, and it passed with no problem. The mileage has not suffered at all, so I just left it.

I always tighten the gas cap, and there is always pressure when I take it off, so I assume it is doing its job.

There are a whole bunch of tests to do in the repair manual to figure out, but I have been too busy.

As an aside.... The driver's side fog light was out in my wife's Mazda 6. Talk about a pain in the royal a.. It took me an hour and a half to figure this thing out and to beat up my knuckles. The bulb, an H3 was no problem to figure out, retainer clip and all, but the wire harness to attach it to, was 1/8" above the small housing. Took off the air intake, and still not musch room.More scratched fingers and the thing fell into the abyss. It took a 14" bent needle nose plier to get it out, and so much swearing. The Pilot is so much better thought out.. Just becasue she didn't like the look of a Honda Civic or Accord

Okay back to engine light.
