Default Engine Malfunction Light

Changed my spark plugs a few weeks ago. The day after the engine malfunction light came on and went off after I restarted engine. On the way to work this morning the light came on again and didn't go off this time. Was wondering if anyone knew what I need to check. The manual says its related to emissions. I've got 127,000 mi. Trying to keep from having a huge repair bill. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get the code read.

Without the code everyone is just guessing.

Some here have amazing confidence in their guesses.

Your local autozone will scan the codes for free. Post the results here. I suspect a misfire, but that's pure speculation.

You were correct. Went to autozone and it said that it was a misfire. Not sure if I need to change the wires or just see if i didn't get it put back on good. It said a misfire on number 4. Not sure which one that is.
On the way home from work, was rolling my window down and it stuck. I hear a clicking sound but no window movement. Glad the rain stopped this morning. Isn't my week for the vehicle.

I would try this:

Swap the coilpack with the cylinder next to it. If the misfire returns on plug number 4, you have an issue with that spark plug- gap is wrong, or the plug may be defective.

If the misfire follows the coilpack, you may have a defective coilpack.

As stated in the previous post, the Autozone readout stated I had a misfire in number 4. Does anyone know the order of the plugs so I don't have to guessing which one it is? Any help would be appreciated.

For some reason, I had a hard time getting this info. It's not on the valve covers, nor is it anywhere obvious in the Service manual.

Anyway, standing in front of the car:

Rear bank closest to firewall goes, left to right:

1-2-3

Front bank, closest to radiator goes, left to right

4-5-6

So, swap 4 and 5 and see what you get.
