This just started recently, and I'm not sure if it's anything to worry about or not. My 05 has about 47,000 miles on it... When I turn the key to the ON position, in addition to all the normal dash lights illuminating, the "D" in the gear selector also lights up (in addition to the "P", which is correct). Anyway, the "D" goes off as soon as it's started. It seems to function normally after that; when I put it in drive, "D" lights up fine...
Any thoughts??? |

I looked into this on my Honda Accord (1998), and it does it as well.
The P and D lights are actually outputs from the transmission computer, not just from the selector switch. So, the vehicle illuminates them to check during starting. Are you sure the D illumination just started recently? Thanks, dgilfillen |
