Default VSA light/indicator on a 2005 pilot with only 13K miles on it

Hi there,

The light just started going on and it will go away if I shut off the car and start it again. Unfortunately after some time, it shows up again.

Just wondering if this is something I need to deal with by:

1) taking the car to a dealer
2) taking the car to a place like Pep Boys
3) can address by making sure that all the tires are properly filled, etc.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

2005 with only 13K miles, is it still under warranty? If so, take it the dealer to address the problem. I'd take it there anyway just because we are talking about VSA, which is a pretty important safety feature to trust to Pep Boys. Just my opinion though.

You might also be able to figure out what it is by taking it to AutoZone or some other similar parts place that will scan the computer for codes at no charge. Once you know the codes, you can at least have an estimate of what's going on without entrusting the dealership to make all those decisions. It could be something simple like a wire unplugged on a wheel sensor or something that you could fix yourself, but you won't know until you get the diagnostics done.

That said, if it's something that sounds complicated to resolve, I would take it to a dealership or a reputable shop that services import cars. Pep Boys isn't a real shop. They are more geared toward maintenance services than repairs from what I've seen. Just depends on who's working in the shop.

If you get codes at an auto parts store, let us know what they are and maybe someone can jump in and tell you what needs to be done.

Good luck!

John

Its not uncommon to have the lights disappear on "rebooting" the car.

Happens to me periodically but rarely
