Default Motor mounts

Took the Pilot in for a front-end alignment this week and the tech informed my wife the front motor mounts were broken and needed to be replaced. Our vehicle has a tad over 66k miles on it so it surprised me that they've already broken.

Has anyone else had to have theirs replaced with this mileage and if so, what did you have to pay? Any TSBs on 'em by chance?

Thanks folks!

What are the symptoms? Do you get a lot of vibration of the engine while idling? It's very easy to remove/replace the engine mount if you have the proper tools.

I've filled broken mounts with 3M sealant in the past, and it's worked out great.

If there are no symptoms (trust me you would know) then ignore him.

Quite what a wheel alignment tech knows about motor mounts I don't know Neither do I see any need for him to go looking for trouble, only your money.

Thanks everyone for your input. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of the motor mounts? I can see one on the passenger side but hadn't found any others. Thanks!

I just had my PilotEX 2004 in for timing belt service at 110,000 miles and
the technicians noticed the Main front mount is collapsed and not moving as a new mount should ... They have also pointed to a side mount and said the rubber insert has started to tear....
I have not noticed any symptoms but I usually do not over accelerate...

Went to an independent shop and they are confirming that yes the main
front mount needs to be replaced -------Quoted $275.00 as the frame has to be dropped to replace this part.....
Is this common???? Sounds like the mount is a poorly constructed part????
Most of my miles are highway..........
Anyone else experience bad engine mounts????

I haven't had any symptoms either. Just what the Tech at the dealer stated. If anyone can send me a diagram of where the mounts are located or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd opinion as well, most likely a reputable foreign auto repair facility. Thanks.

I have experienced broken mounts in the past on another vehicle...

There are several tests technicians proformed to confirm if the mounts are functioning properly...

1. Raise the hood stand on the brake and rev the engine... If the engine
rocks/moves an extreme amount the mount is determined to be bad....Real high tech stuff

2. Punching the accelerator an feeling the engine rock back and forth under the hood...

I think test #1 will give you the best visual... But what do I know ......
