Default Oil changes under warranty

We recently bought a 2004 certified pilot that is due its first oil change. Will I void my warranty by doing this myself .I like to use synthetic oil and just prefer to do it myself.

Thanks Ivan

No you won't. Read your manual. Just fill out the info in your service book, sign and date. Many on the forum do their own oil changes. Do a search - many have installed Fumoto drain valves to speed the process.

I also change my own oil. I have heard that it is a good practice to save your oil/oil filter receipts in addition to signing the maintenance log in the Owner's Manual.

Per the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot require, as a condition of maintaining a warranty, service or parts from a specific source. They can require proof that maintenance was indeed done.

They also cannot deny a warranty claim unless the 3rd party service is proven to have contributed to the failure.
