Did you use Honda parts, or aftermarket? If you used the Honda parts, did you use the included shims? Did you resurface the discs?

Lots of questions, so little information....

Default brakes

I used aftermarket parts that included new shims. I did not resurface the rotors.

The reason I was curious about the origin of the pads, is because of an experience I had doing my own brakes. I had Tire Rack send me a set of pads for my van, about a year ago. They were formulated with a material that was suppose to cut down on the dust created during use. They were advertised as a premium material. As soon as I replaced them, I noticed that they would squeal, especially at slower speeds.

I replaced them with factory pads, and never had a problem again. I'm wondering if this was similar to your experience.

Did you use a anti-squeal lube or moly grease on both sides of the shims as well as the back of the pads? I have Akebono pads and while they came with the shims pre-installed you still have to apply the lube.

I DID NOT apply any lube to the shims. I assume that goes on the back of the shims facing the caliper parts.

thanks for the advice, I will give that a try.

Some pads only have 1 shim per pad...some will have 2 shims for the inner pad and 1 for the outer. In either case apply lube on both sides of the shims and on the back of the pads.
