Default Warranty and Trasmission cooler

Wondering if a quality aftermarket transmission cooler would suffice for my warranty. I'd like to set install my own towing kit, but the $1000 or so Honda wants is pretty steep. Anybody know? Thanks!

You're probably Okay. If your tranny failed during warranty, there is some chance Honda would push back, but unlikely - small risk.

The Honda tranny cooler and power steering cooler don't cost anywhere near $1K, especially if you shop around a bit. There have been lively debates here over the years over whether the Honda is worth the money and where you stand on this is generally depends on how much value you place on a part specifically designed for the vehicle vs. an add-on part. I tend to the OEM side as I think they are engineered to fit better.

The $1k I mentioned was for the complete tow kit (hitch, wiring, and the two coolers). Best I can find for the two coolers is about $175 each. The OEM is probably an easier fit as well. Still - frustrating when a decent aftermarket cooler is under $75. Response appreciated!

How does anyone know if an after-market cooler provides the proper cooling? The existing cooler provides some, but ostensibly, not enough for towing. The Honda heavy-duty cooler provides more, but how much more? An after-market cooler also provides more but again, how much more? I would go with the Honda cooler, especially for a DIY because the installation will likely be easier.

Bottom line, I don't recall anyone in this forum being challenged in warranty for having an after-market cooler.
