Angry Opening the back hatch

I moved back in May and seem to have misplaced my Service Manual. I told the wife to be on the lookout for it. However, in the meantime, can somebody scan and PM or post here how to open the back hatch? My back window busted and was replaced, but I hear a ton of glass shifting around inside. It has even gotten in the way of the latch mechanics once or twice. I need to do this tonite before vacation tomorrow... thanks guys!

I had this same problem with my Pilot. The rear hatch glass had apparently been replaced by the prior owner, even used PPG branded glass, which is the same brand used on all the other windows, with exception that the "Honda" branding was missing, which made the conclusion it had been replaced. It took all of 10 minutes for my buddy's glass shop to remove the inside panel and vacuum out the glass pieces rattling around. I wish I could tell you how they removed the panel, but it was driven into the shop area so I ddin't see how it was actually done. The owners manual will not tell you how to do this. You might have to drive and jiggle/bounce on the back end to try and dislodge the glass pieces. Again, a glass shop might be able to help at minimal expense. Good luck.

I don't know if you will see this in time for your trip, but you can use the install instructions for the rear view camera to see how the rear hatch is disassembled. See page 4 for the diagrams and instructions for removing the interior trim. That should give you the access you need to vacuum out the broken glass.

Too bad the glass shop didn't do this for you.

That's why I asked for the Service Manual... makes me that I spent like $75 on it and I have no idea where it is... The glass was Autolite and looks fine, maybe a tad darker (fine with me). The rear wiper fits in perfect, etc...

This is where I'll have a little mini-rant. The window broke on a Saturday afternoon, and Monday morning I was off to the airport for a week-long business trip. So the wife had to take it in for me (I had made the appt online). It's quite annoying that in this day and age, auto repair seems to be one of the few extremely sexist industries out there that I truly believe a male customer (me) would've received better service than a female does. Luckily, they didn't tell her they needed to top off the headlight fluid...
