The Pilot I got is my first NEW car that I've been obsessive in reading the manual. I noticed my coolant level is now low and I went straight to the manual to see what they recommend. Low and behold, they scare you into using only Honda Long Life Antifreeze. .... Before, the cars I've had I just dumped in Prestone and not even reading the label.... But now, my Pilot has me under a spell and I want to follow the script, but I am not that paranoid that I have to go to the dealer to buy coolant. ... Anyway, what does everyone else use as a substitute in the reserve tank? .... What would you recommend?

Go to the dealer and get a quart of the pre-mix coolant for top-ups. While it may be more than others on a unit price basis, a quart of the Honda coolant isn't that expensive. And since it's pre-mixed, you maintain the proper ratio of coolant to water.
