Default clicking noise in steering column

i have an 04 pilot with 50,000 miles . after a bumpy drive while camping it started making a clicking noise- coming from just behind the steering wheel. it only makes the noise when the gear selector is in park and i press down on the brake pedal. no other problems. is this somthing i should be concerned about? note-this was the first time that i had to engage the vtm.

The noise you described sounds like the shift interlock - and it's likely always been there you just didn't notice it. This prevents putting the vehicle into gear until the brake is applied.

This happened to my '03 EX at about 2000 miles....now have over73K and have not had a problem with it.

Dealer said it was the solenoid for the shift interlock...as andys just described
