Question Trouble code definition

Greetings,
The "D" indicator on the shifter was flashing yesterday on our 2003 Pilot. My wife called me from our mechanic and reported a code 77. Our technician did not know the meaning of this code. It cleared up on restart and seems OK. Any thoughts on this observation?
Thanks,
ebc

I think the codes are 4 digits.

If your tech does not have a reference to the codes get a new tech or have him buy a book.

He knows the alpha-numeric format quite well (he is a certified Honda/Accura tech). The reader literally indicated a 77 which is not OBD format. Maybe just a glitch.

The two digit codes are Honda specific OEM codes - they crossover to the OBDII Pxxx codes, but I think you just may have a glitch because I looked in my copy of Mitchell and did not see a '77' also. May want to drive it around some more and see if it returns and recheck the number of flashes he's getting from the "D" indicator. If he has the OE Honda scan tool or a Vetronix mastertech he should be able to figure out what the problem is. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

I noticed you had an 2003, when my "D" light started flashing on us last year, it was very intermittent. I can't remember the code it gave us, but it was for the 4th clutch pressure switch. I waited to change to switch until the problem was happening pretty regularly, like every other day. But it would only do it on long highway drives, usually when the trans downshifted going up a hill or when passing. If it ends up being that switch, it was an easy fix and the part was only $50-60 irrc.

Good luck and let us know what it ends up being!

Yes, tried to cross it over from the Mitchell DB he uses; no luck.

Angry flashing drive indicator

My '03 joined the crowd and the drive indicator started flashing today. 64k mi and out of warranty. Probably the 4th sensor dang-deal... Seems to be a pattern developing here, not that the dealership would care. Wish me luck.
