Question Transmission question

Greetings,
We have a 2003 Pilot. Is there a serviceable filter on the transmission? I have not been able to find a part diagram for this model.
Thanks,
ebc

If it is the same as my 2006, which in most aspects I believe it is. The filter can only be accessed by removing the transmission and opening the case. not from the exterior as we are used to. So it is just drain and refill which replaces 1/4 to 1/3 of the fluid at a time. Be sure to use Honda ATF-Z1 fluid

Thanks for the reply. I have a 2007 Accord V6 as well. It does have a seviceable filter which is often neglected (its a semi-pain to replace). The Accord forum had a pic of one after about 80K. It was completely clogged with clutch dust (the tranny had failed, no wonder). I did not want to run into this with my wife's Pilot.
Regards,
ebc

Does anyone have a picture of the tranny filter for a 04 pilot.

Again, everything I've seen on this forum suggests that the tranny filter is inside the case, therefore not something we can service in the driveway as part of fluid drain/flush/fill.

Thanks for the picture archie. I just went out to take a look under the hood of my 04 pilot, and the filter seems to be external of the tranny. Has anyone replaced one before, and whats seems to be the intervals to replace one of these filters.

Well hell..... I went out to my 04EXL-RES and found my filter externally too.
I have done the drain/refill 3X twice, once at 15k miles and again at 30k miles. Now I have 43k and am about to do it again, because I tow a boat and pop up camper frequently.

I'll post a pic in just a minute although it ain't easy to get a shot of the filter.

damn, wish the 06 had this external filter. sorry about the mis information. I know I looked up mymodel year and was disappointed that there was no serviceable filter w/o removing the transmission.

I could put one inline with the cooler, but I'll just do the drain and refill regularly.

The piece with the spots all over it appear to be the filter. Under the blue bolt.....

Glad the picture posted

It seems like a real PITA to access, so I'll just do the suggested fluid changes as per the manual. This appears to be a knuckle buster of a job.

In case anyone else is going to look for their filter using my picture, let me try to orient you....

The top of the pic is close to the firewall. The big fuzzy white thing in the upper right is the brake master cylinder reservoir. The large somewhat shiny bolt just above the blue bolt is the tranny fill bolt. The filter appears to be the round thing with dirty water spots all over it.

Again, it is waaayyy down there and I'll look further into access from above and below and report back.
