Default rust spot and warranty

I found a small rust spot on the hood of my 2004 Pilot(color: Golden).
It has been less than 3 yrs since I bought it.

My question is
is it covered by the manufacture warrant?
If not, How can I fix it?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks

From the '03 Warranty booklet. I'm certain the '04 warranty is the same in this respect.

Get a tube of touchup paint, clean off the surface rust with some WD40, put the touchup paint on.

Wink

thanks for the kind replies.
It seems I'd better get a touch up paint.

Anyway here is the picture of the rust.

How'd that happen? Rock chip or something?

That looks pretty scary, I have a 1991 Nissan 240SX that had the front repainted. The original owner had an accident and bumper and hood were painted on an 11 year old car.

Since buying it from him 5 years ago, the paint had started to remove itself from the bumper and is cracking just like your pic.

Problem is... the paint continues to lift and gets bigger and bigger. Rain, carwashes, etc. just contribute to the growth of these chips.

Now the bumper on my car is plastic so rust isn't an issue, but while you still have time, I'd take it to a pro and have it properly fixed. If not, it WILL fester under your touchup paint and get worse.

I'm going outside now to take a pic of what I'm talking about. Remember that these growths started off as pea size paint chips. Pics in about an hour.

The warranty doesn't cover rust caused by missing paint (which was in turn caused by body damage). Just take your time and clean the area and make sure it's free of rust before you touch it up.
