2006 Pilot engine air filter, Thanks for the information!
I really miss the clamp on air filter housing cover that my 1998 CR-V had. It made changing out the air filter a 30 second job that required no tools. Anyway, I have always been somewhat hesitant to replace the air filter on my 2006 Pilot because I was sure that I would lose one of the screws. My Pilot has ~20K miles on it and I have never changed out the air filter. Somehow I had it in my head that it was good for 24K miles, or two years, whichever came first. I know, I should have paid more attention to the Maintenance Minder before resetting it after each oil change.
Long story short, thanks to this board I found out that the screws used to secure the air filter housing's cover will not back out completely. I replaced the filter today (Used an OEM part) and it took all of 10 minutes. The good news is that the old filter was not all that dirty. There was nothing in the bottom half of the housing that needed to be cleaned out, so I just placed the new filter in the housing and secured all four screws. The only tool required was a 6" #2 Phillips screwdriver. I used one with a magnetic tip...just in case. Thanks again to the folks on this board!
