03 Pilot brakes

First pad change on this car so I want to ask a few questions before I start:
Caliper removal - bolt or torx; what size?
Shims - Honda had a fix to stop pads from shifting when going from reverse stop to forward stop. Do I need to go to Honda for shims (or whatever the fix is)?
Piston depression - Will a C-clamp work or do I need a special tool to get the piston back in the caliper?

I read the other thread on brake pads. I have NO problems with stopping, warping, etc so I do not plan on changing rotors. Is this crazy?

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Here's the DIY thread from a while back. According to the info in the thread the front caliper mounting bolts are 17mm and will take some elbow grease to get off. The caliper pin bolts are 14mm. In the rear, the mounting bolts are 14mm and the pin bolts are 12mm.

The Honda pads come with the appropriate shims and anti-squeal lube. Some aftermarket pads (Akebono ProACT) also come with shims and lube.

Some people like to use a c-clamp with a large socket to compress the caliper piston. The special tool combined with an old pad works for me.

Don't forget about changing the brake fluid. This needs to be changed every 3 years at a minimum.

how many miles on your vehicle? should check the measurements on your rotors first. for a 2003 with average yearly mileage, rotors may be due and there may not be any issues at the moment. like the pads they are a wear item.
