Default Maintenance Required

I have a 2003 Pilot and the Maint Req light is staying lit. I have tried the reset method by holding the reset while starting the car etc. Does the fact that it will not reset indicate a different more serious problem?

Thanks for any help.

The light will stay on if it hasn't been reset in 7,500 miles. Assuming you've had maintenance performed, the person who did the work probably forgot (or didn't know) to reset the indicator.

Make sure you're doing the reset properly: hold the reset button in, then turn the ignition to On (not start), and continue to hold the button in for 10 seconds until the light goes out.

If it doesn't go out after using the reset procedure, you aren't doing the procedure properly. It's just an idiot light that comes on after so many miles, and does not do or mean anything else.

Thanks for the replies. I have executed the procedure many times over the cars 70,000 miles and it has always worked. This time it has not. I guess I should be glad it is nothing but apparently and malfunctioning indicator.

Hmm, maybe we need light to tell us when the "Maintenance Required" light has malfunctioned.
