Just went to my nearest $tealer to pick up a jug of Honda Genuine coolant for $16 tax included. Did I just get bent over?

Holy hell! Remind me never to go there for any reason. BTW, I picked mine up at Goudy Honda in Alhambra.

Better? That's debateable. Honda coolant is specifically formulated for our vehicle's aluminum radiator and is rated to go 100K miles between changes. I'd rather stick with the Honda coolant since my Pilot is still under warranty.

Default Coolant

Hey I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Honda is not in the making fluid business. They may spec something out specific but I'm willing to believe the players like Prestone have stuff that's more then good enough.

You are correct that Honda is not in the fluid making business, however, they do create the formula that the manufacturer uses. It has something to do with the silicates that are part of the formula that prevent corrosion. I would definitely trust Prestone in a GM, Ford, or Dodge, but not in a Honda. You don't have to change the original coolant for quite awhile anyway. But if I did, I'd rather spring for Honda coolant.

I've had no problems with Prestone in my Aluminum engined Land Rover which is closing in on 150k....
