Default Instsalled front brake padsd

I put new brake pads on my '04. It took about 45 minutes, which included going back to the tool box several times. moving stuff from side to side and sweeping the garage floor. I needed: jack, jack stand, 17mm socket, 12" rachet(those bolts are tight), c-clamp & 27mm socket(for compressing cylinder) and locktite.
I purchased the ceramic pads at Auto Zone for $40.00 + tax, tags, floorplan, advertising fee, document prep, credit report,ADP, etc.
My Pilot has 92K.

Good job!

Original rotors, new, or turned, or none of the above?

Original rotors. Most of the time when dealing with dealers "because of the high milage they are to far gone to turn & the new ones cost !!!"
The rotors were not grooved even moderately. If I keep the Pilot until 150k then I will just slip some new rotors/pads on when they are needed.

AutoZone has lifetime warranty on some of their pads.

When they wear out, just bring it back, and they give you new pads.

In california anyway...

Question OEM Brake Pads

If it's not a good idea to use aftermarket pads, does Honda have a lifetime warranty on their pads?

I just had my local mechanic replace the pads on the 03 Pilot. Had 78,000 miles on them, he said they could have gone a few thousand more miles. I purchased my pads at Auto Zone too, purchased the Bendix OEM formulation. Did not turn rotors just put the new pads in. Total cost $95.00 for the pads and $100.00 to the mechanic for a total of $195.00, the stealership wanted $380.00 and axle. They must have thought I had been smoking crack! The stealership never mentioned a lifetime warranty, but Auto Zone did.

Default don't use aftermarket pads

This statement was thrown around but no reason was given.

Make as statement then go hide.

I guess this question is for me.

Stealership wanted Front axle: $380.00
Rear axle: $380.00
Total cost: $760.00

I could not believe that the service guy kept a straight face. No warranty was mentioned.

I did not have the rotor turned, because my mechanic said if there is nothing wrong with the rotor no need to touch them. His personal ride a 1985 Suburban has 150,000 miles on the original rotors and has never touch the rotor so far.
