Hey guys, I have a silly question. I have heard yes and no to this dilemma. Does my 07 Honda Pilot have special break in oil in it?
I have registered with www.ahm-ownerlink.com and this is what it said: Why should I wait to change the oil the first time? Your Honda engine was delivered with an oil that is specially formulated for new engines that have not yet developed their "natural" wear patterns and may contain minute particles from the manufacturing process. American Honda strongly recommends this special oil be left in the engine long enough for these wear patterns to develop, usually until the first maintenance interval specified in your Owner's Manual, based on your specific driving conditions. is this really true? I called my dealer and they said no? I'm confused. If it does have special oil, when do i do the first oil change, at 3750? or when the maintenance minder says to do it? I drive pretty normal, no towing or hot weather... One more thing, when looking at the maintenance minder service reminders, service reminder "A", that is just replace oil, not the oil filter, who just replaces the oil, i thought u just get the oil and filter changed at the same time anyway, is it cheaper to just get the oil changed without the filter? Thanks for your help |

Like humanoid said, just follow the maintenance minder and do what it says, not the dealer's service department.

I'm new to these cars, but like already posted, it seems that the minder is a pretty accurate gauge to tell when you should change your oil. |
