Default severe or normal

Can anybody tell me whether my 2004 pilot belong to severe or normal driving condition?
- 13K miles yearly
- Daily usage is to pick up kid from school (3 miles one way)
- Twice a week the car is used to take my wife to school (70 miles RT Freeway miles)
- Occasional weekend trip to city, (40 miles RT freeway miles)
- Yearly summer vacation trip (400-600 miles Freeway trip)
- Live around DC suburb area
Current mileage around 40K

The reason I ask is our honda mechanic recommend me to wait to do oil transmission change until 45K since he thinks my car belong to normal schedule. I jut feel 45K interval is too long for changing oil trammission.

Thanks
Bubu

I've always run my 05 on normal however have broken that due to a 2500 mile run that I'm about to do and had an early service

I felt the tranny wasn't shifting smoothly, and had a "minor" tranny service done. The effect of draining off 3-4 quarts and (hopefully) replacing them made a huge difference.

So from now on its 22500 between tranny services for me with the next one at 45k.

Also considering going with 5k oil changes due in part to the 06-07 cars wanting fresh oil around that time.

My daily commute to work is 4 miles (15 min) one way. I have always gone with the normal schedule with all my vehicles and have had no problems. If you feel uncomfortable with waiting for a a transmission oil change, then just have it changed. You can still follow the normal schedule for everything else.

I would go with the "severe" schedule just to be on the safe side.
